If your printer is posting a 941 error, do the following: Power off the printer and let it sit powered off for a minute or more. While the printer is off, remove any and all installed memory and code SIMMs. (This includes any overlay cards, code upgrade SIMMs, IPDS SIMMs and OptraImage/OptraForms cards.) To do this, you will need to unplug the printer from the wall and access the main controller/system board of the printer. Once all the optional cards have been removed from the main board, close the printer fully. Now power on the printer again and watch to see if the 941 error returns. If the 941 error does not return, try printing again. If the 941 error does not return as soon as you try to print, print a few more pages. If the error does not return after this, power off the printer and add the removed options back onto the printer's main board one at a time. Test the printer after each option is installed to see if the 941 error returns. If the 941 error returns when you reinstall one of the option cards, the card itself is defective or incompatible with the printer. If this card/option has been working in the printer up until now, find another card/option of the same type and try it in the printer. If this second card/option works in this printer, the original option card will need to be replaced. If two cards of the same type do not work in this printer, confirm that this card is compatible with this printer model. If it is, the printer may require service. The main controller/system board may need to be replaced. If you are able to reinstall all the option cards and the printer works as expected, continue using the printer but keep an eye on it for the next few day to see if the error returns. If the 941 error returns with all of the option cards removed, do the following: Power off the printer. Disconnect all the network and computer cables from the back of the printer, leaving the power cord as the only cable connected to the printer. Power on the printer. If the 941 error continues to appear, the printer may require service. The main controller/system board may need to be replaced. If the error does not appear, power the printer off and reinstall all the network cables. Power the printer on and try printing again. If the error is gone, continue using the printer. If the error returns, there is a problem either with the main controller board or in the network. |
