We have an old HP laser printer that we put on a Windows 2000 machine that keeps giving us the 18 AUX IO NT RDY message. We are also experiencing multiple paper jams with this.
Do the two go hand in hand?
Any help with this will be much appreciated!

The 18 AUX IO NT RDY is an error with the I/O interface card which is in the printer. What type of interface card do you have added to the printer? I'm assuming it's some type of network interface card. IF you are not using the card the first thing to do would be to remove it and see if the error goes away. IF you are using it check that your LAN cable is plugged in and that the connection and cable are good. Also try reseating the card and lastly check your computer network card or hub. IF the printer is not getting a good connectivty to the LAN it can give this message. The 18 error has nothing to do with the paper jamming problem.

Does anyone know what the error code 58.3 means? I can't find any literature on this error code.
This printer is a hp 4mv.

I'm having trouble getting a HP Laserjet 4m printer to work on my PC. It was an old network printer and I'm connecting it up to the printer serial port on my PC. It indicates an 18 AUX IO NT RDY error. I added the printer and tried to print but I'm getting a printer time-out error after a minute or so. Anybody got any ideas on what could be wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Have you tested the printer with the parallel port? Make sure the printer in windows is set to use the correct serial com port you are tring to print from. Also be sure that the com port you are using is not in conflict with the port you mouse or modem maybe using and that the port is activated in your bios of your computer.

You have to run the Hp Jetadmin software to be able to see the printer on your network.
