I keep getting a Error code 52. Can't print. It sounds like its starting to spool up to print but then just stops and displays the error 52 message. How can I fix this?

I get "13 PAPER JAM" every time I try to print using the letter paper tray. I tried with a single sheet in the printer and it feeds ok every time. If I try using the manual feed, it works if there is paper in the tray, but will not feed manually if there is no paper in the tray?

Any idea as what to look for to fix this?

Thanks

Alain

Alain:

Sounds like a warn paper pickup roller, it all depends on where it is jamming. If the printer attempts to pickup the paper and then jams it is the roller, if it jams further into the printer it maybe something else. The manual feed must have paper in the tray to work properly wether the roller is good or not

Cathy:

This error is due to the printer not having enough memory installed to handle the print job you are sending to it. Adding additional memory to the printer may solve the problem.

I have the problem that the paper won't feed reliably from the tray, but works fine on manual feed.
Seems like it's the pick up roller? If so where can I buy one cheap?
Also, there are 2 small springs that pull up on a plate that picks the paper up out of the tray and pinches it between this plate and the roller.
They both look streched on one end to me, or is this normal? Could this cause the problem?
Thanks.

I am trying to connect(using a Belkin USB-parallel cable) my very old Laserjet II P to my new laptop which runs Win XP Media Center. I am getting an error message #12 on the printer display. Can you tell me what this means? My manual is somewhere in storage and HP seems to no longer support provide a manual online.
